Chi Cago's Notes

The Etruscans settled Rome, they migrated form the northern or more central part of the peninsula. They were metalworkers, artists, and architects. Two myths that were foundations in Rome were Virgil's Aeneid and the story of Remus and Romulus. The Greeks also settled Rome, they had lots of colonies surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. The Romans followed Greeks in a lot of their beliefs such as religion, alphabet, art, and military techniques/ weapons. The Latins were the very first and true settlers of the Mediterranean Sea. They were descendants of Indo-Europeans, they settled on the banks of the river of Tiber. They had their trading ships could venture to Rome, but no further. They had an open port that was not open to attack. They built on the seven hills. Remus wanted Aventine and Romulus, Palatine. There were many streams that fed into the river of Tiber. Between Palatine and Capitoline hills there was a marshy area called Forum. Tarquin the Proud's grandfather had built the Cloaca Maxima, largest ancient city drain, which brought water into Tiber. Lucius Tarquinias Superbus was the seventh and final king of Rome. He was often referred to as Tarquin the Proud and even occasionally Tarquin the Arrogant. He was a true tyrant in both the old and modern sense of the word.
