There were two types of plays typically performed in Greek theater which were tragedy or comedy. Tragedy is typically a serious and often sad type of play about love, hate, war, or betrayal. These plays often have a main character or a tragic hero. A flaw often causes the downfall of the hero and this flaw was hubris, or excessive pride. Comedy was their other most popular type of play which usually had crude humor and slapstick comedy. Playwrights often used politics, people of influence, or ideas of the time to fuel their plays.
Plays in ancient Greece are similar to those in modern days because of the costumes often being dramatized to either go along with the play or to symbolize which character they exactly are. For example when someone is playing an animal they dress up in full body suits or very similar looking textures/ furs as the animal they are trying to reenact.
Greek theaters all look similar to this one in their structure and the way the seats come up above the stage. They are wide and deep in order to fit a big audience and the reason the stage is at the bottom is in hopes the actors voices would echo and everyone would be able to hear.
